Peaceful Gifts with the Tree of Life and the Peace Sign
Several of the peaceful gifts in this collection bring two of my favorite symbols together. In one of my designs, the branches of a colorful tree form a peace sign above its roots, in bright rainbow colors. The collection preview above shows that artwork on wall art, a hanging ornament and a round wall clock, along with a simpler black peace symbol surrounded by small stars.
The peace symbol was designed in 1958 by Gerald Holtom for the British nuclear disarmament movement, and it later became one of the most widely recognized signs of peace in the world. The tree of life is much older. It is named in Genesis and Revelation, and many cultures use it as a picture of growth, family and connection. Putting the two together felt natural to me: a wish for peace that is rooted and growing.
